They should've built Kurupt as a solo act in place of Dogg Food with Daz/"Dre" and all the other ghost "co"-producers backing the project then dropped Tha Dogg Pound. Then drop Nate Dogg. Like how hard would that really have been to do before the year end of 1997?:hhh:

Hasbro needs to finish completing all the unfinished tracks getting the old artists back. If they can spend 4 billion to acquire Koch then they can spend £5,000 on each track paying Daz to finish all his beats. :mindblown:

I wish Nate wouldve dropped 95-96... but damn Death Row was really putting out actual classics from 92-96

2 things

1. Death Row had major push backs all the time. Rage, dogg pound, Sam Sneed etc. They seemed to only want to push Snoop and later Pac because it was safer guaranteed money

2. Kurupt has said he feels Def Jam pulled strings to ... stop him after calling out names
I agree with #1 because why wouldn't you just go with the cash cow rather than taking a chance on a dog (pun intended) maybe they didn't feel he had the chance to become a problem child due to the lack of media exposure. I'm going to assume he wasn't media trained at the time but we all know he has charisma so they dropped the ball on getting him ready for the media. Even in group photos online he stands to the side or behind someone like he doesn't wanna be seen so I guess he still never learned.

But, I highly doubt #2, In this same period Kurupt was featured on the biggest tracks at the time on Priority Records and Interscope. He was in no way blackballed from the industry. How can you be blackballed but appear on 2001 and all of Snoop's shyt?

I still consider Nate's debut as a Death Row classic because it was recorded there just published elsewhere. The majority of it was made at Can-Am Studios, I believe.

1. Snoop and Dre were personally close to Kurupt. So that's different than the rest of the industry

2. I want to say 2001 was before streetz is a mutha

3. Notice how Dre did not participate in space boogey or really anything Kurupt related afterwards.

Snoop also told Kurupt not to do calling out names. Snoop also appeared on world war 3 after Kurupt just dissed Ruff Ryders

idk... that album seems off to me... cant really explain it
From what I've read, some of the songs he re-recorded his vocals using a different mic after leaving Death Row to polish his vocals more and the album didn't have the same sound engineers from Interscope available to Death Row at his own disposal so he re-produced a lot of the tracks himself. If you read the liner notes he damn near produced or co-produced the entire thing himself which is why it may sound a lil different to something Dre would've layered each track in the years prior for acts on Death Row.

My brother played his album all the time but when I came of age myself I appreciated Nate's album even more. The production was perfect in my opinion.:blessed:

I don't think Kurupt was seeing eye to eye with Snoop or Daz. Every few months they had a feud or made up after Death Row so we may never know if Snoop did that intentionally. Also, it took months for songs to get released back then so I doubt Snoop made that move in malice.

Death Row released this version of 'G-Funk Classics Vol. 1' on April 7th 1997 but in extremely low amounts

I know Dre didn't produce it but you can feel that he clearly touched it up. The production values are damn near second to none.:banderas:
Dre mixed the ENTIRE album.

I remember Daz saying that if Dre mixes shyt he generally wants producer credit.

I truly believe Daz bytching about producer credit ruined his entire relationship with Dre

This is my first time hearing about it?:ohhh:

So, what's different from the re-release then? Do you happen to know where I can find/download the original first pressing? :gladbron:
