Had a great interview yesterday for I job I would love to get. Back in school they trained us to send thank you letters (e-mail) after interviews, to me it seems kind of lame but have any of you guys done this at all?

I only use the thank you if they are taking too long to get back to you with either a yes or a no for a job. That way it gives you a "nicer" way to inquire about whether or not they made a decision.

That's lame if you ask me, you'll just sound desperate... like ur trying too hard. If you did well in your interview and made a good impression, you'll get the job.

As someone who works in HR/recruiting, absolutely yes (assuming it's something halfway decent, not fast food or garbage collecting)

A very brief, quick email thanking them for their time and reaffirming your interest in the position is always a good idea.

I talk to many recruiters and they always say a written thank you letter stands out the most. Email is pretty useless since they get countless of emails. They've told me people have gotten hired over more qualified applicants off the strength of the written thank you letter/post card.
