Nope...than again, i never had to beg for a job

When you're in a shytty economy, competing for great jobs against other people who are just as smart and accomplished as you are, any little bit helps. It's not "begging" it's making sure someone else isn't doing more than you. And showing you're not just going thru the motions.

Thank you notes are the epitome of "going through the motions." Every other Joe Nobody writes a handwritten thank you note on some stupid paper. You know where they go? Right in the trash.

When was the last time you saw someone's thank you note hanging in a cubicle?

Man, writing thank you notes? Fvck outta here with that bullsh!t.

I used to think sending a thank you letter was corny or a waste of time. But after taking a couple business classes I realized the error of my ways. People who are saying no think it's some kind of ass kissing technique when in reality it's just thanking them for taking time to consider you giving a job.

You should practice when looking for a job so when you want a career it will show you are a professional. Even if you don't get the job, the person that interviewed you may know someone else they can refer you to. People forget that a job interview is marketing yourself to a company. It isn't hard to write a paragraph :beli:

If you never thought to send a thank you letter/email, whatever position you applied for was (a) not that in demand by the potential employee market for that poistion, (b) a position that you did not want yourself, (c) probably something with a small company.

Had a great interview yesterday for I job I would love to get. Back in school they trained us to send thank you letters (e-mail) after interviews, to me it seems kind of lame but have any of you guys done this at all?

:ld:

My former internship and current job I have now are the only ones I've sent thank you e mails so take it how you want.

I talk to many recruiters and they always say a written thank you letter stands out the most. Email is pretty useless since they get countless of emails. They've told me people have gotten hired over more qualified applicants off the strength of the written thank you letter/post card.

:manny:

reading this much later but I just had a job interview from a recruiter in North Carolina. But I'm in Minnesota. Wouldn't an email be easier? Regular mail could take 3-4 business days.
