yeah this is the only dark cloud about this. Econ lesson for some real quick
BEFORE OBAMADEATHPANELCARETASTROPHY
Hospital bills out - 10 Million in medical invoices to patients
Hospital spends - 5 million in expenses such as supplies, doctor salary, etc, etc
Hospital has to write off 3 million because the'll never collect from people without insurance.
10-5-3=2
Hospital Makes 2 million dollars, claims it has to charge insurance companies "extra" to make up for the cost of the 3m write off, prices go through the roof

WITH Obamacare
Hospital bills out - 10 Million in medical invoices to patients
Hospital spends - 5 million in expenses such as supplies, doctor salary, etc, etc
10-5=5
Hospital Makes 5 million dollars, theoretically prices should drop....

Bro math and all that's the general idea. Let's see if the prices go down...

So basically...if hospitals were losing money, you'd be complaining about how liberals hate profit, free market healthcare would be better, hospitals have a right to make money, socialism, etc. And if they're saving money, apparently it's still bad because...liberals?

:umad: disgust at "high" profit margins is pretty common on this board among those who support the ACA, I'm just drawing attention to the fact that the ACA serves to increase the profits of those who were "fleecing" people not to long ago.

Yea private hospital profits are increasing thanks to government interference in the market kind of like Pell grants and loans helping increase the profits of University of Phoenix yet education cost (tuition) steadily rising...so what happens when there's another great recession? Will the government be able to sustain the health insurance industry as it is now?

Will those hospitals trickle those savings down to the consumers or just keep on raising costs seem as though the insurance will cover things?

Is it human nature to be greedy? The opposite of this answer is the answer to your question..
