MCU Scarlet Witch had Thanos one "REIGN FIRE" away from ending the movie. MCU Thanos is nerfed. And even when they fought Thanos on Titan (or whatever planet that was) Peter Quill's simp ass fukked up the win. And they killed Thanos in the very beginning of End Game.

The MCU Thanos definitely needed the stones.
