:ohhh:

Today, there are more people in the world who play the online multiplayer battle game League of Legends than there are people who live in France. We wanted to see how humanity got to this point, so VICE host Matt Shea flew to South Korea, a country where competitive gaming—also known as eSports—can either make you rich and famous or land you in rehab.

Resistance is futile: eSports is the future

PEOPLE WATCH this thing? Well, in a word, yes. When Major League Gaming launched in the early 2000s, its tournaments played out in hotel ballrooms before ... dozens of fans. Today, eSports' biggest tournaments rival practically any sporting event. The League of Legends Championship sold out Staples Center in 2013, then sold out the 40,000-seat World Cup Stadium in Seoul a year later while drawing an online audience of 27 million -- more than the TV viewership for the final round of the Masters.

:francis:10 years from now, there will be a esports sticky thread in here.:wow:

PC gamers have known this for years already.

It's only going to get bigger and it's what Street Fighter V is trying to get into for the next 7-8 years. Street Fighter has been competitive for a while, but there is still a lot of work what can be done for it to compete at the highest level. A game like Street Fighter is extremely important because it is easy enough for casuals to pick up and master if they decide to put the time in.

Those RTS games like DOTA, Starcraft and the like are very complex once you get to the high level and turns many people away.

.....it's more fun to play the video games rather than watching someone else, but everything's a spectator sport nowadays....by the time this pops off I'll probably be in the woods on some fukk technology steeze with a wife that has some big titties, into climbing mountains and shyt with me or chilling on the beach, and can cook her ass off. Y'all can have this one.

Hopefully Doom kickstarts the arena shooter trend again and we can have that in the mix too. :wow:

TBS has picked up on this too. Makes me miss TechTV :mjcry:
