Whiteside is a blockhead, Heat fans always wonder why I don't praise him like other bigs, it's because he doesn't always show up and gives quarter effort a lot of the time. If he played every night like last night he'd be a top big man, but he doesn't. He gets pulled because he does stat hunt, the fact he plays less than 30mpg isn't an indictment of Spo, it's because some nights Whiteside just isn't there and while he can get his numbers the team does suffer. Spo just going with the numbers, Heat are -2.7 net with him on the floor, by comparison the dudes who Heat fans are always trying to shyt on are +9.7 and +5 in Embiid and Gobert.

I'll up this thread when the Heat ultimately trade Hassan.

Embiid is better. As much as we like to blame Spo for Whitesides development issues, embiid is just better. We can't keep kicking the can of blame down the road to Spo and company for whiteside getting dominated, dude is 29yrs old.... But to whitesides credit he did what he could in the last two games. He rebounded and played defense to the best of his abilities.

Heat nation is split on whiteside. There's a segment that feels Spo is impeding his greatness by not playing him major minutes and by players not feeding him in the post against Philly. Fact of the matter is, whiteside is limited. His post game isn't refined, and he's vunerable to getting trapped even when it appears that he has a mismatch against smaller bigs. That's why when embiid was hurt early-on in the series, whiteside still struggled to a degree. Heat nation figured it was the fault of guards not feeding him in the post and the fault of spo sitting him for so long, but it's more 65/45. 65% Hassan fault for not having a refined post game and for being a blackhole and 45% the heats fault for not having a better playmaker/guard(besides Wade) who can constantly feed whiteside in his spots. Wade was the best at it, but because he's the only consistent playmaker on the team, Philly was able to zero in on him and prevent him from consistently getting whiteside easy lobs. Dragic is one of my favorite all time heat players, I love the guy. But he's a better scoring guard who can play off the ball and cut to the rim and shoot timely 3's. He's NOT a consistent enough passer/playmaker at the 1. If we had a Rondo-type that Dragic and whiteside can play alongside, it'd change this offense completely. In this current offense we gotta make 10-20 extra passes to MAYBE be able to generate a shot. Whiteside, Spo and the the staff should collectively self evaluate in the off season..
