My fave will Smith role by far.

I watch the film every xmas since it take place around that time.

Will's plan to put MAGA voight against size more without them knowing is :salute:

You're either incredibly smart or incredibly stupid

Then of course the call back to the hackman classic the conversation

gene hackman was such a great actor. and he bowed out gracefully from the industry. I've NEVER seen him have a bad performance in any movie.

I rarely hear Enemy of the State talked about as one of Will Smiths best movies.

But yes that was a hell of a cast.
Enemy of the State is rarely talked about AT ALL. I don't know why.

I also like to watch movie reactions on YouTube, and it's hard to find anyone that reacts to it.

lmaooo I used to watch this so much when I was like 10 years old my parents wanted to know what was wrong with me. I loved this movie for no real reason.

I used to just bust out and say that line, something about him wishing something was in the Chesapeake. Can’t even remember now.

Yea this is probably Smith’s best movie ever but also one of the least talked about, ironically

Had that early ‘00s Denzel movie vibe but before early ‘00s Denzel made it his shtick (dejavu, inside man, Manchurian candidate, etc).

Youngins may not realize how much heavy lifting Smith, Denzel, and Wesley had to do for bad ass breh representation back then. It was a vibe knowing that a proper blockbuster where a breh got to be the unapologetic MC was coming out.

Watch this movie then Crimson Tide.

Guess who directed each movie.

The big ensemble cast and fast talking dialogue with quick scene cuts & a grandiose score in the background seems to be a staple in his films.

He understood how to get the feeling of a big blockbuster movie. The only person close to that right now is Christopher Nolan.

Great fukking movie.

Just rewatched Crimson Tide this weekend :wow:

That movie should have had at least four or five Oscar nominations and no I'm not joking

it's interesting to me, being 13 in 1998, I turned 13 in September in 1998, my tastes were pretty adult, but that was kind of the climate. I was listening to 112, Shyne, Jay, seeing R rated movies. But, to your point, we never thought it was a big deal for a black lead, it was just normal. Wesley, Denzel, Will, were icons, who were black icons, but also just icons.

Culture and cultural norms were a lot different in those times, the late 90's was almost vaguely apolitical in a sense. Will Smith played that role as a black man, 100%. There is maybe even a racist line from a Mob guy. He's not pretending race doesn't exist, and neither does the movie, but the movie doesn't turn on race either. Think of how different a studio would make that movie today, or 4 years ago.
