They probably just used the low prices as an excuse to cut back on workers. They ain't hurtin for money.

That field has become overpopulated in recent years.

Yup, a lot of high tech and STEM related fields have an influx of workers and recent college grads.

But these gas prices better stay lower than $3 per gallon and they need to really develop a non-gasoline car like the Tesla that is affordable to the masses. Can't be depending on gas forever.

until foreign production cuts back this will continue for a few years. its all on purpose and an attempt to disrupt the US production and an economy. our increase in production has hurt foreign suppliers. this is OPEC's attempt to regain production that was lost. the idea is to not only flush out the frackers and deep water drillers by keeping the cost of drilling too high, but to also break them and their financiers as a lot of this activity has been done with borrowed money. this should serve as a stronger deterrent for future drilling in the short term when banks and lenders from the capital markets don't want to put down any money for new deals.
