That match between Hogan and Sting Starrcade 1997 has to be the biggest...

I always bring this shyt up (cause its true ) but as over as Punk is, he would be stone cold over if Triple H had turned full heel on him

Not really. I keep saying it, but Punk is a niche draw. You could relate to Stone Cold character wise, because he was a blue collar guy; his attire was always black tights, black boots and the kneebrace. Punk was a hipster character, so he is not truthfully gonna stick with everyone. As much as I love Punk, alot of his apparel screams trendy, like what you can purchase at a Hot Topic. Punk persona is of a rebel, like more believable Raven. If CM was around the early ECW days he would have been the draw for the company.

:ohhh: that sounds strangely familiar.....

Whatever objections you have with WWE booking, the fact remains that its an incredibly profitable company with diverse and strong revenue streams....the TV contract they have exceeds well over 100 million dollars alone, and that will increase when they renew that deal next year. Outside of a year or two, WCW lost millions, and in 1999 they lost 80 million. Comparing WWE to WCW is completely inappropriate.

For the past 10 years or so, Every time WWE produces and angle or story fans dont like, they are quick to compare it to the fall of WCW. That needs to stop....We're not talking about antiquated wrestling concepts of "drawing" anymore, but a synergy-minded business model where the brand as whole is a draw. The WWE model of continued diversification and growth is insanely powerful.

:ohhh: the fact that WWE is making money makes the comparison "inappropriate"? They aren't feeding me. I'm a fan. Why would I care how much money they make?

And besides, you do realize that WWE's long term business strategy has been running like this since the Rock n Wrestling days, right? All of those unified little wrestling organizations made money, but what they were doing during that period.... from rise to fall.... was them basically switching from their traditional and "territorial" business model to WWE/F's more media and merchandise driven, fan pandering business model. It worked, then it didn't.

It's the difference in Ted Turner's "wrasslin' business" and Vince's "Sports Entertainment" business.

Comparing the two like they started the 80's the exact same way is what's "inappropriate".

The buildup was SO fukkING PIFF. And for it to go all :flabbynsick: at the end was just uber amounts of fukkery. To me, the countdown to WCW's demise was on from that point.

Yes.

Bret Hart.

The most talked about wrestler on the planet during this time coming off the most controversial exit ever from their biggest rival outside of murdering your wife and ki....moving on.

Makes his WCW PPV debut on the company's biggest night of the year as a special guest ref for Bischoff v. Zyskbo.

Yes.

Didn't even bother to put on a referee shirt.

Being the special guest ref for that match allowed him ref privileges for any match of his choosing on the same card.

Reasonable.

Wanting the bang for his buck, decides to use some of his limited diplomatic immunity on the main event while he can before it expires at midnight.

(Any suspense of whose side Bret Hart was on was killed btw, when he gave Bischoff one of the lightest right hands in pro wrestling history in the match RIGHT BEFORE the main event and put Hall in the sharpshooter)

Redeems his referee EZ pass, reverses a clean pinfall, attacks the real referee and restarts the match.

Gets to celebrate Sting's big win with Rocco Rock and Mortis.

Okay nevermind, Bret Hart in WCW is THEE

They shouldve held bret off until the next day, had sting win clean and premiered bret as the next nwo member and set up him vs sting...

Bret...The final outsider :wow:

Fans wouldn't have flocked to him to like that. He was never more over than Eddie from 2004 or RVD in 2001. His shirts started selling but he never was gonna make a difference on PPV and lead to some new boom like Steve Austin did after the Mike Tyson hype stayed with the company in 1998.

Hogan paid Nick Patrick to make the fast count a regular count lol.

Kind of sad. He's a company saver, no doubt, but that did help put an end to the competition that has the industry in a tailspin today. That and the Nash bullshyt with Goldberg and that fingerpoke of Doom bullshyt. It was never the same. They did the fingerpoke of Doom and Austin is coming out to one of the biggest pops in wrestling history nailing Rock with the chair and letting Foley win the belt.

all it did was make Sting look incredibly weak

i blame Hogan for how the fight finished

It didn't make Sting look weak. It made booking look stupid and political and it never recovered. Sting stayed over and was never gonna be a heel after that turn in 1999 or any of that shyt. That was all a joke. The booking game is what makes money in pro wrestling and Hogan should of tapped out clean. Simple.

Borden was out of Shape ... Bollea carried that bum.

Borden had Whiskers beat clean on Nitro, soon after only for Bollea to interfere.

That made no sense either but made Bollea look stronger.
