I never actually tried to break down what it meant because the imagery that it evoked in my mind was powerful enough. He has a way of painting pictures with words and hearing that line instantly makes me think of some shyt from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and those style of dead and oppressive looking images.
Good explanation. I always felt it was about him seeing the afterlife in front of him. Like. He's suicidal and so high that he can see things from how they appear on the other side. And him saying wish he could flap wings and fly away is his way of saying he wishes he could release his spirit to the other side and what he perceives to be heaven and peace.I always thought the dead bird flying through a broken sky was about depression.
Only because before that he says he’s suicidal. The dead bird signifies how he’s
unable to move past his depression and his surroundings which get no better. He’s a dead bird “flying” through a terrible environment and the streets. Then he says “wish i could flap wings and fly away, to where black kings and Ghana stay...” it’s basically an extended rhyme about never being able to change your chaotic surroundings
