And why this over a steam deck or ROG Ally?

I ordered mine from Aliexpress, they got them at retail pricing. With the fast shipping mine came to about 260.

I think I'll eventually get something like a steam deck/rog ally but for now emulation up to the Nintendo switch is all I need. This is the perfect device to pass the time at my daughters dance competitions

So this lets you emulate games from NES gen all the way up to Switch?

I want something to emulate from NES gen to PS2 gen maybe a few PS3 games and I’m good

What would be the point of a SD if you got this? Other than buying games from Steam?

This isn't for pc gaming, its mainly a retro gaming handheld for emulation. Theres levels to this.

Im about to put a 1TB sd in this and make it a retro dream machine

Up until about the Switch. This will not compete with a handheld pc in terms of raw power(u cant play pc games like GOW Ragnorak) but for emulation this handles most everything. It depends on ur use case. A ROG Ally X is an end game device but it costs almost $600 more than a RP5 if that puts it in perspective for u

So far it pretty much runs everything before the PS2/Gamecube generation perfectly.

For PS2 games I run my games at about 3x which is 1080p. Some run perfectly, some don’t. The Tenkaichi games drop tons of frames and are unplayable at the moment but with some tinkering I should be able to get it working. The Smackdown vs Raw games run well during gameplay but drop tons of frames dur entrances.

Got mine yesterday

This screen is beautiful, its hard to describe

I was afraid it would be too small. I have big hands but this is above functional.

I haven't had the time to setup the front end on emulation station yet, but the emulators I set up so far run beautifully....playing super mario 3d world on WiiU right now

I decided to go with Beacon for my frontend, that emulation station shyt was too much work imo.

The switch emulation has been the best surprise. U have to tinker with the drivers and some of the graphics settings but I'm playing Mario Odyssey at right under 60 fps.

I gotta upgrade mine. The one I have only goes up to PlayStation 1 and games like gow are janky as fukk

You gotta download your own ROMs but they're still easy to find online. It does give u a decent amount of emulators in the setup, not all of them though I still had to install the Switch and the PS2 emulator myself.

It's tedious work, I've had mine about a week and I'm still tweaking things. But man its a labor of love. I'm 42, it amazes me what's available in the retro gaming handheld market right now. To be a 10 year old gamer right now must be
