Been lived that life. Got sober at 32, now I’m 39. I feel like you can run the streets without doing any of those things. Running the streets is literally just that. And avoiding all responsibilities while doing it. But the effects of running the streets can haunt you long after you stopped slanging, smoking weed and drinking too much, hanging with the wrong crowd. You might be a felon as a result. Have a fukked up work history with no marketable skills. You don’t go from stopping running the streets to being comfortable suburban home owner overnight. Especially not for the younger generations Y and Z. Life is a gamble regardless.

My homies that didn’t give up the bar, the bottle, the pills, the drug game etc. been dying for years. From what I seen, old heads that don’t give up the streets just end up alone in a Section 8 apartment begging for change outside the liquor store. Sitting around all day taking about the NFL, the NBA, how rude kids are and how crazy they dress. The hardest drinkers/druggies die around 50 years old and it usually hits them fast. One day their healthy, the next they got a hole in their throat and lost 50 pounds walking with a cane looking 96 years olds at 53. :picard:

Take massive precaution of this, brehs. Stop drinking and smoking when you still young.

Because struggle and the performative demeanor of surviving it have been assigned as synonymous with blackness.

If you didn't come up in certain environments or live to tell of an ordeal that made you "hard" or "real", you are lesser.

And some people won't respect you as a human being if you had a (slightly) easier life growing up, on some "I can't respect you as my equal because you didn't struggle like me" type steeze. Crabs-in-a-barrel type shyt.

The sinister plan to make the "streets" appealing in the first place , specifically to blacks, is a thread in itself. :sas2:

A lot of denial and stigmas will run wild. I bet you the CIA had a heavy hand in making it appealing to blacks in the Crack Era.

I wish some of us would stop idolizing the streets like it is anything more than a dead end path to homelessness, poverty, prison, or death. Running the streets is a short-term means to excitement that eventually leads to long-term insolvency at best and death at worst.

B b b bu but you get the bytches in their physical primes :ohlawd:

B b b bu but you get the memories that will last lifetimes :wow:

B b b bu but you get the clout that makes you into a hood legend.

Word. Can't be acting like DMX and be spazzing out all the time. That era is over. Most people of Gen X/ older Gen Y are now burnt out

Street life
You can run away from time
Street life
For a nickel or a dime
Street life
But you better not get old
Street life
Or you're gonna feel the cold

All of the lyrics in this track are as true now as they were then, if not truer, but the above shows you how its just for the young and foolish. When you live for the night you tend to forget how they slot together to pave the way to a day you didn't plan way off in the future...

:wow:

Indirectly, you are placing a negative connotation on them.

You are essentially putting those type of Men (you stated you are one of them) in boxes. So Men who handle their business can enjoy risky fun with Women? Men who about their paper can’t smoke a blunt or eat some edibles on their off day?

when you place these Men in boxes, you tell them they are not allowed to act like human beings. You tell them they have no room for error — that they have to be straight edged and not fall short of perfection.
You made good points, but place these type of Men in boxes.
