The Oculus rift uses your own pc to power it. If you have a powerful pc, you'll have better graphics. If you have a weak pc, you'll be playing on low.

Somebody said the PSVR is like a pc with a 970. If your GPU is better than a 970, then the Rift will be more powerful. If it's not, then it won't be

You're using a laptop gpu, so I dunno. Run the oculus rift program to see if you're up to snuff. Also run the SteamVR program to see where you stand. Laptop GPUs are less powerful than their desktop counterparts, so I dunno.

the Oculus program just checks your PC's specs, and compares it with their listed requirements. the SteamVR program is an actual benchmark

Nope. Caculus Rift has better resolution

Wrong. PSVR uses a FULL RGB display while the PCVR solution uses Pentile displays in which the PSVR will have less screendoor effect.


Allows them to push less pixels but more sub pixels which I guess makes it look clearer.

Vive and Oculus Rift are 1080x1200 per eye, pentile oled @ 90hz.
PSVR is 960x1080 per eye, RGB oled @ 120hz.

It's not just a simple "Rift/Vive has higher resolution so it's better."

Not every 1080P screen is the same. Ours has three subpixels per pixel, which means true RGB for every pixel; some of the other displays actually don’t have the full RGB for every pixel, so they have less subpixels per pixel.

The frame rate of PS VR is also very high, but probably the biggest effect is the optics. The designers have done a really good job at matching the optics to the field of view to the screen.
