Make it Law and Order SVU, but set it in Miami and make it more stylish.

It can be done, and as much fukkery that still pop off in Miami Florida and then mix in the celebrity aspect, it could pop if you did it right.

Miami Vice the movie wasn't all that good because it was drawn out and relatively anticlimactic. The ambiance is better suited to a TV show than a movie. Miami Vice needs to be a show, not a movie. People have short attention spans in the theater.

It went off the air because every other plot was about fukkery down at South Beach
Somebody either overdosed or washed up at a party.
IMO making it in current Miami would allow them to rely on technology too much like i said in my previous post.
it wouldn't be just Crocket & Tubbs, they would have a whole team back at HQ in front of a giant screen monitoring everything;
"let me check all the cameras in a 12 mile radius", "let me run DNA right quick on my phone", "let me track the iphone", "call Q he got this new drone he programmed last night that tracks cocaine residue"
This was the case in Bad Boys 3 and every current crime fighting show on tv where they have a team with experts in every field on it. Even The Equalizer with Latifah, she has a nerd in front of a 50 ft screen that can hack into the NSA.
All that instead of real detective work in the cocaine 80s where the drug running was less sophisticated but the detectives also had the same disadvantage with no access to a iphone that would have solved at least half of those cases in the 80s.
