I think this event just proves that many sites use this site for content for their websites. Any reporter that simply went to the third page of this thread would have immediately known this article was fake as hell. Excellently written, but fake.

But... the earliest evidence we find of it turning up online is at this message board thread, which links to a nonexistent original and has the article as carrying an apparently nonexistent byline.
