I didn't realize the full extent of it but this goes deeper than Trump, he's had personal beef with Obama and the Dems since 2008 since he felt they were pressuring him too hard to help the Obama campaign and weren't giving him respect.
Without that experience I think he would have just stayed in the independent, "free thinker" lane saying goofy shyt on occasion, but that moment turned him against Democrats and he went into full anti-Obama mode, which attracted the attention of the right and eventually got him to MAGA.
