"the 18th letter" is Top 5 rakim songs

It's technically perfect song with enough multi's to blow rhyme king's mind and has a surprisingly dark dope beat by Father Shaheed. I just wish it was little longer.

This song doesn't get the props it truly deserves, but to me it's up there with Ra's best songs.

Rakim is always relevant as he's one of the greatest of all time and in most credible lists as one of the greatest. The fact people still talk about Rakim today shows how great he is, people should aspire to that not downgrade it.

yeah, I may be exaggerating a bit cuz I used to fukk with the 18th Letter hard Ra had a tiny catalog compared to other GOATs and although his post Eric B work had some potency, he was no longer ahead of his time which doesnt make those albums stand out lyrically like his previous ones. NOBODY was fukkin wit him during the Eric B run.

Didn't think it was horrible at all, really enjoyed it. Don't know if people were expecting a Follow The Leader type album or what but they got a very solid contemporary project. If Jay or Nas had released that would probably be heralded as classic. I think it's a 4- 4.5 mic album personally.

technically it is not a " perfect song " alot of the syllables don't even match up
in terms of the rhyme scheme imo.

u kidding me the 18th letter was fire in terms technical ability and the beats were fire also it is a classic album imo
