when Baseball was worth a sh*t.

:wow:

Game 1:
Griffey goes yard twice

Ruben's HR (look how crazy the crowd is at the old yankee stadium)

Game 2:
Seirra & Mattingly go back to back (look at the crowd)

Lyeritz blasts the game winning HR in the 15th inning

then the Mariners pitcher goes on a famous tirade after the game

Game 3:
Tino's HR

Game 4:
Griffey does it again.

Game 5:
Griffey yet again

Edgar's Grand Slam

Edgar's famous double

To me, this is still the most important series in baseball history.

Both the stadium and the kingdome were loud and literally shaking:whoo:

The mariners comeback to win the division+this series and the whole atmosphere saved them from being re-located.

Tino Martinez having the series he did, likely was one of the reasons the Yankees traded for him that offseason.

Buck Showalter not knowing what he had in Mariano and leaving Cone in to lose the lead. They win that game, and there's no Joe Torre, and maybe no dynasty.

That Mattingly homerun..... :to:

They stopped the game for 13 minutes. Pinella had to get his players off the field because fans were WYLIN in the stands over Don finally getting his chance after 13 years of never being in the playoffs and knowing this was his last go round.

Never heard the stadium louder in my life....

It was credited for saving baseball after the strike as well

This was the first season with the Wild Card in the playoffs (they had it in '94 but you know what happened) and young me was skeptical for some reason, and this series convinced me that the Wild Card was a great idea :pachaha:

Back in those days tickets weren’t all dominated by corporate interests.

First time I went to Yankee Stadium it was a day/night doubleheader and we stayed for both games.

Went to a game in 96 and we paid like $40 for box seats behind the 1st base line.

Great times.

Still can't believe you guys lost with that lineup. Was the best chance for my fave CF ever Kenny Lofton to get that ring :mjcry:
Kenny Lofton would have won a World Series in 2004 if Joe Torre wasn't such a fukking scumbag idiot a$$hole and played Kenny Lofton more in the postseason
