I had a 96 Caprice with the 5.7 LT-1, which was in Impala, the but I need that Impala so damn bad.
You have to do the 454 engine swap.
Have to.![]()
Why? Because it won't fit, and couldn't use the power increase?Putting a 454 in a 96 Impala SS is dumb

It bolts right up, no cutting necessary. If you want fuel economy, buy a Cobalt. Its working backwards putting a 454 in a 94-96 Impala/Caprice, you have to make sure it fits and the loss of fuel economy. It would be better to put a Generation 3 Vortec (5.3 325 cu in,6.0 366 cu in.) in it.

I'm thinking something more along the lines of the LSX.What I'm trying to say is there are 3 different forms of the 454. The original carbureted one, the one that is Throttle Body Injected that came in the anemic 454 SS truck and one that was made from 96-01. You make MORE power with BETTER efficiency with one of the engines I said. By now you should realize I know what I'm talking about as I currently own a 95.
