Liriano is under contract for next year. But yeah, hopefully AJ comes back next year, if not go after Bruce Chen or Eric Bedard.

The first things the Pirates should do are to extend Pedro Alvarez and Neil Walker. Sure Alvarez is a sub-.300 OBP w/ mediocre defense, but I think he becomes a .320 + OBP who slugs .500. If he hits FA in 2017, he'll easily net 5 yrs/70 mil, maybe he nets 7 yrs/130 mil. Neil is an above average 2B, will be 32 when he hits FA, so sign him now for below market value and possibly him having a breakout year.

If they can't resign Byrd, go after a Jason Kubel or Jason Bay to platoon in RF. The Pirates have two solid arms on the farm in Taillon and Kingham who will be ready next year. Getting Abreu would be huge, but extending the young players is the most important thing for Huntington to do.

Gregory Polanco will be the RF next year,in a few years hell be the Pirates best everyday player

Ehhh didnt realize Liriano signed a two year deal. Who knows what to expect from him and Locke next year. A full year of Cole will definitely help, still mad he aint sign with the Yankees :beli:

Only question now is whether the umpires will screw the Pirates out of Game 5.
MLB has a hard-on for the Cardinals. Always have.

And right on cue :beli:

:childplease:

Anyway lol, was looking over stats of this series. Was really evenly matched. Definitely was a reason I would've rather faced the Reds. Gotta tip my hat to Pittsburgh.

Gregory Polanco should be able to fill in that RF spot nicely....:takedat:
that outfield is gonna have me in the stadium like :blessed:

but we need someone who is consistant. i know walker is a pgh guy thru and thru but i wouldnt be opposed to having a SS or 2B who can really bat for average that is one thing we are missing. i think like someone else said we have to many swing and miss types.

we really need to work on RISP. so many games throughout the season where we left the bases loaded or runners in scoring position. i need to see who is available this upcoming winter

The only SS available are Stephen Drew and Jhonny Peralta, both will net huge contracts. I'm sure you can platoon at SS. If you keep that rotation in tact, you have a chance of being back in the playoffs, bullpen will likely take a step back. There's no major moves for the Pirates to do, just extend Walker and Alvarez; resign AJ or grab a backend starter, resign Byrd or get a platoon RF, grab a platoon SS.

I can't see Peralta getting a big contract. Probably not more than 2-3 years either.

How bout Polanco Glasgow and Taillon for Giancarlo da gawd:whoo:

That might actually get the deal done, but your pitching is a question mark next year. I'd wait a year to see if Taillon or Kingham pan out in the majors. That's a trade to do next off-season, and Miami is not trading him this year.

Should they advance, you'd have to think Leyland would give some thought of taking Jackson out of the Lead-Off spot. Dude has been horrible. Can barely put the bat on the ball.

He's been absolute dog shyt. I wouldn't mind seeing Infante leading off. Leyland's stubborn as a mule though; he won't change a thing.
