Each hitter has a different goal though depending on their spot in the lineup. Regardless of how you feel about Dusty Baker, I've never heard a manager call out a player for being too selective. Votto's job is to drive in runs, not try to be a leadoff hitter.When did I make a vague argument?
Calling Votto overrated is vague and calling him selfish just shows you don't have any idea what actually wins baseball games.
Rule #1 for any hitter is DON'T MAKE AN OUT.
