Calling Votto overrated is vague and calling him selfish just shows you don't have any idea what actually wins baseball games.

Each hitter has a different goal though depending on their spot in the lineup. Regardless of how you feel about Dusty Baker, I've never heard a manager call out a player for being too selective. Votto's job is to drive in runs, not try to be a leadoff hitter.

If he was Billy Hamilton, I'd love his approach. However, he's the #3 hitter in the lineup. He IS a fantastic hitter and should be swinging the stick more often. Someone has to drive in runs and i'd rather have Votto trying to do that than relying on Brandon Phillips amd Jay Bruce.
