Right. But them making the trade has nothing to do with their collapse. If they didn't have Lester, the collapse woulda most likely been worse, cause they probably wouldn't have even made the playoffs.

In short, blaming what happened on that trade is misguided.

Oakland was cruising before the trade. They didn't need Lester, but they lost a big bat in Yoenis despite his struggles.

If they don't trade for Samardzija and Lester, they would of been done a long time ago.

They had a great rotation after the Samarja deal even if Hammels struggled. Lester was overkill. Platooning for a lost bat on Cespides will be Beans demise

You wasn't paying attention. Kazmir, Gray, and Jesse Chavez were going to flame out sooner rather than later. And Cespedes is not all that. They were never going to resign him, so it really doesn't matter if they lose 1 year of him.
