Californ-i-a by way of BK
Oakland still would have lost in the playoffs anyway. Moneyball can't win you meaningful games.

Money Ball isn't about advanced metrics. It's simply a tool used to find what skill do certain players have that teams under appreciate and try to build a low cost team by finding those type of players. In 2001 it was on base percentage, since then it, everyone team knows OBP is the most important hitting stat, and so the hunt changed for the A's and they started looking for other things that weren't appreciated by teams like defense and the like.

And the Godfather of Advanced Metrics is Bill James, and the Red Sox have won 3 world series in the last 10 years under him.

Not as much as the A's
Yes they do. Every team uses it. A's don't even use it like that anymore. They just were famous for introducing it to mainstream america with the Money Ball book, but as I said, Money Ball has nothing to do with advanced metrics, it's about finding the advantage over other teams by signing/trading for players that are undervalued.

this, people dont seem to get that. moneyball at its core is basically trying to get the most value out of players by finding players who are cheaper than what their performance suggests.

real shyt, i was lurking the betting thread and saw this quote from the homie buddy omar.

as soon as the royals tied that shyt up, i had a flashback from reading this shyt earlier in the day :dead: i really don't even follow baseball like that during the season anymore but, i watch the playoff. this was a helluva fukking game! question to baseball purists, who are the favs to win it all this year?

:wow: Thanks for the shoutout breh breh. Honestly Royals had no business in hell winning this game after the A's hit that homer. I thought my bets were dead and then the Royals pull off one of the craziest comebacks i've ever seen. Hell of a game indeed

I hate those stats fakkits as much as anybody but people also have to remember that even with a supposedly higher probability of winning, you can still lose. There's so much random shyt that goes on at the end of the day in sports
