The Braves won no WS as a result. That's my point. They dogged their pitchers for nothing. The Mets have many years of competitiveness ahead. Gambling their star pitchers' health for one playoff run would be stupid.

The Phillies didn't baby Hamels in '08 and they did win the WS. The Giants didn't baby Lincecum, Cain or Bumgarner and they won three WS. No teams have won titles as a result of babying their pitchers.

If you have a chance, you have to go for it that season.
