Yes, Chris Illitch only cares about the bottom line and will cut payroll. They gave Maybin away and he's only making $8 million. I'm not sure they'll have a firesale, but I could definitely see them moving a few big names.

Obviously, Detroit fans were not happy about that. Either they felt some of the heat and decided against it for one more year or maybe the old man is in a little better health than expected and is making them make one more run.
They're close enough and have so many ridiculous contracts, I don't see why they wouldn't try again in 2017. They almost made the playoffs with a two man rotation for most of the season and a horrendous bullpen once again.
