What point are you even trying to make?

That jason heyward is 27 years old & has 7 years and approximately 163 million and 2 opt outs left in his contract

Miguel cabrera has 7 years 212 million + 2 vesting options that could add 2 years 60 mil to a 34 year player

The point is you shouldn't be talking about heywards contract when cabrera's is significantly worse :ld:

It is worse but you can hide him at dh until the deal is over and he'll still be more productive

Interesting position, considering Cabrera is still a very elite hitter and can still carry a team. Meanwhile, Heyward was coming off the bench most of the postseason.

Tell me why Heyward would opt out of his deal in two years.

:dwillhuh: heyward is gold glove outfielder he doesn't need to be hidden. The cubs had a top 5 offense with heyward sucking at the plate and schwarber misiing the whole season

Why do y'all care about this :dahell: he'll return to form he was never a great hitter in the 1st place next year I think heyward will be 4-5 war

The cubs and tigers are built different. The tigers mostly rely on cabreras offense the cubs don't rely on heyward's offense they never will either

to get another long term contract. He hit .293 in 2015 you're making it sound like he'll never be good again

Again, why are you comparing teams? We all know the Cubs are better than the Tigers right now. You were trashing Cabrera's contract and saying Heyward's is better on an individual level. Heyward does not have near the impact Cabrera has right now and never has.

His .293 was over 30 points higher than his career aveage. That's an aberration, not the norm. I don't see any long term deals getting handed out yet this offseason, so why would anyone risk it in a couple years with Heyward?

Let's put it this way, if Theo called Al right now and offered Heyward for Upton straight up, Al would hang up.

Heyward was never signed to be anything besides a great base runner, great defender and contact hitter he was 2 of the 3 in year 1

If heyward has similar production to his career numbers these next 2 seasons he will probably opt out and get another contract when he's 29 or 30

If he doesn't so what, cubs will still compete for titles which is all that matters to me.Y'all talk about heywards contract more than actual cub fans he's 27 years old not 35 he can bounce back to career norms and the cubs have enough dough to not be affected at all

Time to trade Robertson

Who still needs a closer? Miami, Nats, ??

Nationals. The white sox and nationals were already talking about robertson before chapman and jansen signed

the marlins don't need a closer as much as the nationals do and the marlins wanted an elite closer.Dodgers and yankees saved the marlins from themselves

Nate Jones should realistically have an even stronger trade market. He's better (imo), cheaper and on a ridiculously cheap contract

What do the Nats have left for us?

:patrice: I don't know maybe severino ,but the white sox just drafted a catcher.Doubt the white sox get robles for robertson they maybe can get fedde but that's another pitcher the white sox need position players

Nationals probably get colome from the rays on a package built around robles

From what I'm hearing Collins might project as a 1B/DH and not a catcher

Severino would make sense, maybe can get Fedde attached to the deal. I don't think the Nats move Robles
