Sounds like Padres had to eat a huge chunk of the contract too

:patrice: Shields at us cell could be a recipe for disaster but they needed another starter :manny:

Still need a bat I could see the white sox going after jay bruce

I think he ll help us, but yeah still need a bat. We really didn't give anything up and pay less than half the contract. I'll take it

Didn't give up much, but I'd be worried about bringing him back to the AL. Still, they didn't give up much and even if he's trash, he's still an innings eater. :manny:

Why couldn't you guys trade for Anibal? :noah: :troll:

The mets top 3 are doing great. If Harvey ever picks it up they're dominant

Their hitting isn't great but they have power and pitching and power can carry you in the postseason

You clearly missed the part where I said the cubs have the best pitching in the NL,better than the mets and the mets are #3 in strikeouts currently,#13 in average only the phillies & braves are worse.Cubs pitching have the best team era, opponents ba and whip. and the mets are below average in walks that's why they are 27th in mlb in runs the cubs are also better defensively with bryant in lf,fowler in cf and heyward in rf with baez at 3b THIS IS NOT LAST YEAR.

The Mets have 3-4 power arms; Arrieta is the only true power arm for the Cubs. I'm not gonna argue back and forth about this, but Hammel is pitching WAY over his head and Hendricks isn't scaring anybody in the playoffs. Thor, deGrom, Harvey and Matz match up with anybody in the postseason and they can all rack up strikeouts.

New York's lineup isn't as good because Murphy isn't there anymore, but the pitching is good enough to carry it. Chicago's offense, while having a high OBP, has a lot of guys struggling with average. They hit .164 against them in the 2015 NLCS; does anything you've seen this year suggest it'd be much different in a 2016 series?

We'll see what happens at the deadline, but the Mets should definitely be going after at least one bat and I think the Cubs should look for one more Zobrist like player. Would Theo make a run at Jose Fernandez? Miami's in the playoff hunt, but I'd never count them out on dealing a stud to avoid paying a future contract.

:snoop: Last year no addison russell or ben zobrist in the nlcs, last year the cubs defense was awful in the nlcs, last year daniel murphy went on a lucky ass hr hitting streak, last year arrieta was gassed. This is not last year

2016 Jacob De Grom - 2.84 era,47 k's 1.16 whip,2016 kyle hendricks -2.92 era ,51 k's 0.92 whip :mjpls: hendricks aint scaring nobody yet he has equal/better numbers than one of the mets best pitchers hendricks is a 5TH STARTER

2016 Steven Matz 2.60 era,53 k's 1.05 whip 2016 John Lackey - 2.88 era, 76 k's ,0.97 whip :pachaha:the cubs 3rd and 5th starters are neck and neck with the mets best pitchers no need to mention arrieta and lester. The mets offense doesn't walk, doesn't hit for average and relies on hr's they are 27th in mlb in runs for a reason. The cubs pitchng can shut them down and the cubs offense can score enough whether it's 1-3 runs and this year their defense won't have soler and schwarber bumbling all over the outfield.Keep gassing those mets based off last year.Giants are the real threat because they are a thorough, experienced team that's actually won something unlike the mets

The Disrespect the Nats get on here :wow: nikkas talking about the Giants and Mets but don't sleep on them Nats.... They have Harper AND Murphy who is hitting like damn near 400.

Seems like the Nats and Mets battle for the NL East will come down the wire, anything thing can happen, I'm an Mets fan and remember 07 :sadcam:

But its crazy how an Indians - Cubs WS can legit happen this year, considering its highly unlikely the Cavs will beat GS this year thus continuing Cleveland's championship drought, I'm sure the MLB brass has to be secretly wishing for this match up :lolbron:
