Buxton will be fine. He's a kid who hasnt spent more than a couple weeks in AAA so it was foolish to throw him to the wolves like that. When he makes contact, it's been pretty solid so as he gets better with pitch recognition and putting good swings on off speed pitches he'll be fine. He's already above average defensively with great speed so even if he ends up around a .250 hitter, he'll have good value. But I still aint gonna say a 22 year who has only had 174 AB's is a finished product

Adam Eaton moving to RF has been amazing. He's playing gold glove defense. I can't imagine any RF has been more valuable in the field this season so far

Where can I check stats like that? @HHR? @FloorGeneral?

Fangraphs or bref....but any defensive metrics over three weeks are essentially worthless. That said, he's at best the second best defensive RF in Chicago.

Skipping AAA is very common for elite prospects.

Definitely agree that writing him off is foolish though.

Yeah but he had almost missed a half season or more in each of his two seasons before that. They were talking on the Twins broadcast about the amount of AB's McCutchen, Trout and Torii Hunter got in the minors and Buxton is way behind in that front. They've just planned really poorly for him in CF trading Span and Revere just to rush Aaron Hicks into the position and when he failed, forcing Buxton to be up sooner.

I don't think he'll need much time, a month or two at most, play every day, get the confidence back up and I think he will start showing why he was a top prospect on offense. Once he learns how to just make contact, his speed is gonna get him so many bunt and infield singles and he's already shown some pop. He just should have started the season in the minors and probably not have been brought up til September last year.

I don't know, I'd imagine his defense so far has been as good as any RF. He gets to every ball and has been making assists with his arm. Don't see why any of that will just stop

He just needed to be converted to RF sooner. Just like Cubs made it a priority to keep Fowler and utilize JHey in RF
