Assuming the Mets don't make the playoffs, I would love to see the following playoff results
AL Wild Card - Seattle vs Detroit in Seattle
ALDS: Seatlle vs Texas, Toronto vs Cleveland
ALCS: Toronto vs Seattle

NLCS: Cubs vs Nats with Cubs winnings in dramatic fashion in game 7 at Wrigley :banderas:

World Series: Cubs vs Toronto with Toronto winning in 7 at home with a clutch Bautista home run :wow:

@Miggs @Brady-Carter @Reinscarf
Let's make this happen :wow:
Even Yankee fans @tremonthustler1 and @The War Report gotta love it with that Plantano Power being displayed in this dream scenario :wow:

Ausmus does not know how to use a bullpen. :snoop:

I can't believe Avila didn't make any moves at the deadline. Maybin and Castellanos going down destroyed their lineup.

The Gomez trade was just one of the mishaps that prevented the Astros from converting their tank-and-rebuild sacrifice into Cubs-like dominance. Here are some others:

  • Drafting pitcher Mark Appel first overall in the 2013 draft, ahead of Cubs slugger Kris Bryant. Appel struggled in the minors before Luhnow dealt him last winter.
  • Drafting pitcher Brady Aiken first overall in the 2014 draft, ahead of the likes of White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon and Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber. Aiken had elbow problems and never signed with the Astros.
  • Cashiering outfielder J.D. Martinez, who became a power-hitting star for the Tigers.
  • Trading elite starting pitching prospect Vince Velasquez (along with Appel) to get Phillies closer Ken Giles -- who fell into a middle-relief role in Houston this season.

VV has had arm problems his whole career. Astros have a ton of pitching prospects. We just added Musgrove to the rotation and Gustave once we let go of Gomez.
I hated the Gomez and Fiers trade because we gave away Josh Hader and Phillips. We offered both these guys to the Phillies for Hamels. Phillies accepted the trade but Hamels veto it.
Aiken ended up turning into Bregman. Don't even know if Aiken has even started a game for the Indians yet.
I don't know what to say about Appel..

i dont know how you fukk up 2 #1 overall picks, but they did. still have alot of talent, but you have to wonder what if. they needed RP but gave up waaay too much for Giles (who i think will end up being a nice player for them)

I wanted Rodon to be honest. Scouts comparing Aiken with kershaw is what I read alot during that draft. He ended up having elbow problems and the Astros lowered there price.

Yeah all teams can point to picks they missed.

Still like the Astros going forward with their big league talent/farm system and flexibility they should be good for years

2017 was always the target date for them. as bad as they played last couple of series still only 3 1/2 games out the wild card. Still alot of baseball left

Marlins, Mets and Pirates are really gonna let the Cards finish ahead of them for the second wild card spot. Horrible :martin:
