Re: the Pirates debate a little bit up the thread - the majority of the fan base got incensed when they traded Melancon at the deadline while still theoretically in the running. If they were to openly start rebuilding again theyd alienate everyone they won back. The memory of 20 losing seasons isn't erased that easily.

That being said, the Cubs look titanic compared to them and they still get their ass whooped by the Cardinals as a rule

Yeah as I said them rebuilding again makes no sense at all . They got a good young team that could be good for a long time.

Sure the Cubs may run the division for awhile but you can easily win a title as a wildcard

Kind of annoying how ignorant fans throw out the window a players amazing regular season if he has a bad playoffs which is such a small sample size.

Was Mays overrated because he wasn't great in the playoffs? Of course not

It's hard to make the playoffs in baseball. Without these great players you don't even make the playoffs

To be fair to Willie Mays...

20 of his 25 playoff games were the world series where you're facing the best teams.
And it's not like he played in the postseason often.

It was spread out over 22 years.
He played when he was 20, 23, 31, 40 and 42.

Still he's not the only one. A lot of big names have struggled

Random ass dudes are usually the heroes in the playoffs

The more people play in the postseason, the more their numbers tend to match their regular season stats.

I just think its overblown.

Absolutely I'd take Kershaw.

Just like I'd want prime A-rod even though he struggled at times.
Same with Bonds, who wasn't great in the playoffs until the 2000s.

Giants shoulda won game 1...cubs only had 3 hits, SF had the leadoff man on base 3 straight innings, Cueto was great

Giants shoulda won Game 2...Hendricks got hurt early... They had chances to score...let Cubs pitchers drive in 3 runs :mjlol:

Giants should win Game 3....
