I don't think I would have picked Boone, but the Boone family is somewhat royalty when it comes to baseball so that probably helped his stock.
Word is he embraces modern metrics analysis and that's something the Yankees are emphasizing big time.
I don't think it's a terrible hire. I'm hoping it works out.
Hiring A-Rod would have been a bad choice.
Moving on, the thing for the Yankees now is re-signing Sabathia (they don't have a LH starter right now) and figuring out what the RH platoon option at 1B will be.
If by some miracle Cashman can find a taker for Jacoby Ellsbury, he should get a medal.
Also, Brett Gardner's days are numbered.
Looking further ahead...please let Gleyber get healthy as soon as possible. Third Base is a friggin disaster right now. I don't think the Yankees are going to make a run at Machado. It's likely Gleyber's job because of how Didi has progressed, and they'll focus on Bryce Harper on the FA market.
