We don't have any defense or any run production. Why sign him as a three instead of letting someone from Gwinnett be the 5? It's not like we will be competing in the NL East for at least three years.

I always assumed they signed him so he could be a mentor to the younger players in the clubhouse
If I was him I would try and sign with a title contender like the Dodgers, Giants, Cubs, Indians, etc.
