with many injuries to our starting pitching staff as of now, and tulowitzki/donaldson injured for most of may before coming back against the series against texas rangers and the cincinnati reds.

I read a few weeks ago that Toronto and San Francisco weren't necessarily out of the playoff hunt...but that SF was the more likely candidate to bounce back.

Welp, here we are on May 31st and Toronto is "just" 6 games out of 1st.
The Giants....they're 11.5 back.

The Blue Jays were 28-26 last year after two months. They made the playoffs as the first wildcard.

winning the division will be tough, but a wildcard berth is well within reach.

In the last four years the Jays had a disappointing April only to come back strong in May-June-July-Aug.. slow starts are in the DNA of the franchise

Honestly, so far the AL looks like the stronger league so far, every team in the AL is in the playoff hunt.

Even the Oakland As, Tigers or Mariners can battle it out for a wildcard spot if they have a 5-game winning streak. No team in the AL is hopeless like I see in the NL, where the Phillies, Padres, Giants, Pirates, Reds are already thinking about next spring training.

Phillies and Padres and Mariners...talk about perennial mediocre teams.

Houston, much as I hate to say it, probably is that good. Lance McCullers has been a blessing for my fantasy team.

The NL does look pretty weak, mainly because I expected the Mets to be A LOT better, and the Dodgers have gotten off to a rough start with injuries.
If by some miracle Jon Gray returns and pitches like people think he can (his ERA was bad last year but K-rate was good and his BB rate wasn't terrible), then maybe the Rockies could make some noise.

...last few starts Sean Manaea has limited his walks and he's looking like a stud.
Same with Robbie Ray....but I've been following that a$$hole for 3 years and the second I give up hope that he can stop walking guys...he pitches well and somebody else in my league scooped him up.

My fukkin fantasy team is riddled with injuries too.

Detroit is trash. They have no hope of making a run even if their bats catch fire. Their SP besides Fulmer is not good.

The AL Central is very unimpressive to date.
With all the teams still in the hunt, the wrong injury or right hot streak could have anybody winning that division.

After batting .147 in April, Byron Buxton hit .250 in May.
And he's batting .333 in his last 7 games.

There's still a lot he needs to improve on but you'll take the slow progression.

He's walking a lot more and has really lowered his strike out rate. He's already a top 3 defensive CF so if he can just bat in the 240's he'll be one the best CF's. If he can get it in the 280's, he's a perennial All-Star. Still early and he really sells out on fastballs so his power is up and down. But I'm glad he's showing signs of life. He makes routine ground balls base hits

2 years ago when they won the division they were below .500 at the all star break and won 93 games...if they get everyone back meaning Sanchez...they'll back in this before August...

Most of players struggle to get to third base on a single from first and they have problems scoring from second on singles

It's always a struggle and they have no fuking power
