Cubs did good this trade deadline.I'm skeptical on them being able to go any farther than the nlcs this season but 2018 I think they'll dominate like 2016.2 things addressed this trade deadline will help in '18 and with quintana beyond '18.They'll have dough to spend this winter or they can earmark it for winter '18.

Most of the farm been emptied and they still got their young high upside prospects ademan(ss),amaya(c),albertos(tor p) they are the future, but that's 3-4 years from now.As long as none of those 3 or de la cruz or alzolay are traded I'm good.:salute: theo

come on Luhnow. I know you could have top that Cubs deal for Wilson.

Astros acquire veteran lefty Liriano from Blue Jays
Aoki, Hernandez to Toronto; Fisher to get extended look in outfield

HOUSTON -- The Astros added a veteran pitcher prior to the Trade Deadline, although not one of the big names they had been linked to in recent weeks.

Houston acquired left-handed pitcher Francisco Liriano from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for outfielders Norichika Aoki and Teoscar Hernandez. Liriano, who will join the team Tuesday, will pitch out of the bullpen, manager A.J. Hinch said.

Nothing spectacular, but I like this move. It adds a veteran left hander to the pen & we didn't have to break the bank.

Loser: Boston Red Sox

Dave Dombrowski has traded 24 prospects since he took over the Red Sox, but with the system thinned out, his hands were somewhat tied, and the only deal he made was for reliever Addison Reed. Meanwhile, the Yankees added not only Gray but also relievers Tommy Kahnle and David Robertson and third baseman Todd Frazier. The Red Sox were the better team on paper heading into the season, but their offense remains last in the AL in home runs, and David Price is back on the DL. The truth is, Dombrowski knows that the best chance for Boston to get hot again is for the young Killer B’s to produce more and Price to return healthy and dominant. The Yankees, however, now have to rate as the favorites to win the division.
