So you saying the Emperor has no clothes

I would agree. But I would also say that degeneracy seems to find a welcome habitat among some of us.

Say what you will, but I have never seen a white award show reach the level of degenerate behavior that I saw last night.

So demonic, friends

I guess you didn't see Adam Lambert at the AMAs in 2009.

Look it up if you dare.

The theme of the show was Year of the Black Woman :skip:

NAACP awards was respectful and done right and no one cared. Award shows are dead that’s all. You used to see celebrities a couple times a year if that and you had to pay to see them live so it was a huge deal. Now celebs are willing to entertain us for free of charge everyday

This there's too many shows and too many awards and with social media everyone knows the politics behind them. Nikki never got a Grammy and they threw every award to include Best Male Heavy Metal group to Meg.

I listen to Migos, Moneybagg, Lil Baby, etc but some of these cats stage presence is just off, even with some of the female acts, they not putting on a show like a Beyoncé would back in the day ya know? Maybe I’m just getting old

Nope no stage or artist development. Back in the day nikkas grinded for years at Talent shows and Churches getting a good local following now nikkas go viral and get a deal. If not that nikkas wasn't plants back in the day but they had a lane they were either recording artists or Stage performers.

Diana Ross Kicked Gladys Knight off a tour because she upstaged her night after night.

Jazmine and Ari killed it; best performance of the night for me. Silk Sonic did great too but I need some new material at this point. I'm always iffy on H.E.R's newer material but her performance at least stuck out. Everybody else was either meh or terrible to me.

And so? This is the stupidest argument. Rap became more lyrically complex on average in the 90s compared to the 80s, they were more lanes in the 90s compared to the 80s. Logical arguments would show it became more expansive, complex, and layered. Now it is becoming more simple, uncouth, and made for lowest common denominator. I won't waste my time tho
I'm saying that it's always the same argument when it comes to the mainstream rap game. Get past the mainstream and you get all that you said now.

That's not washed, that just being uninterested or finding a better use of your time

People do the same for the Oscars...Best Picture/Actor, etc

Even sports, just watching the highlights
Those who do that are getting older and don't care the way they used to. We can be mad at those who performed but those acts are popular. It is what it is.

You can't tell these kids shyt. They love this stuff. They may not watch the award shows the way we did but they have way more chances to see an artist perform live. Music isn't valued the way we value it. It's not music to them. It's just a vibe. It's ambience.
