Was on the way to 5 but a layoff, wedding/honeymoon, and major home repair all in the last year and half hit the savings. Trying to build the emergency fund back out to a year's worth.

6 probably won't happen until we can draw from our pensions and retirement accounts without penalty. Investing enough in non-retirement accounts to only live off dividends and interest is probably impossible for us without some kind of windfall from somewhere.

5 but I could be at a six if I downgrade my lifestyle and live off rental income and interest.

I'm at level 4 , but living in a NYC apartment and the lease it's under my dad so they don't raise the rent.

Saved enough to pay 13 months of rent if needed , but haven't taken into consideration other expenses such as food.
