Isn't this vehicle also electrified in the same manner that the Porsche Spyder was/is?

2016 Acura NSX Dissected: Powertrain, Chassis, and More - Feature

"Out went the shared 3.5 and in went an all-new, longitudinally mounted, dry-sump, twin-turbo, four-cam, 75-degree 3.5-liter V-6 with exactly nothing major in common with any other Honda production engine. Not even bore centers are shared. A new, nine-speed dual-clutch gearbox integrated with an electric motor drives the rear wheels and collaborates with two electric motors that power the front wheels. Total output is a secret, but plan on more than 550 horsepower. The NSX is back to stalking Ferraris again.

In principle, the NSX operates like a Porsche 918 Spyder, able to drive electrically or on engine torque alone, though the first mode is mainly a gimmick. One big electric motor located at the front of the transaxle can power the car up to 50 mph for a few miles in a quiet mode. The lithium-ion battery pack behind the seats is too small to supply more. On the front axle, the “Twin Motor Unit” drives each wheel separately through planetary gearsets that allow the motors to provide torque-vectoring capability in concert with the brakes at the rear. Four driver-selectable modes—quiet, sport, sport-plus, and track—progressively ratchet up the car’s aggression level."

Great video and I'm :gladbron: at how much of that car is computer controlled, including the brakes (which give you faked feedback at the brake pedal when in reality it's the computer controlling braking!)...

Leave it to Honda/Acura put some serious technology into a sports car, they always do a great job. I was amazed well when they broke it down as to what does what in the car. I remember when VTEC 1st appeared their cars, everybody was like :damn::ohlawd:. I work in the Honda motorsports industry, the tech they put in the motorcycles is pretty slick as well.

I hear you, but Honda/Acura has never been inexpensive with their cars, the Prelude was damn near 30K, S2000 was almost 40K, 1st gen NSX was 60K (1990), the last gen NSX was at or near 100K. As @CSquare43 put it 570HP, a comparable non-american exotic is gonna run you close to the same money or more. The GTR with 600hp is 160K (the others are 545hp), Lamborghini your paying easy 200K +, Ferrari is starting at 188K, Porsche 911 Turbo (540HP @ $159K), etc. I will say the Vette and Camaro are way less expensive then the Acura but if you are shopping around for a car with close to 600HP from the factory, the Acura is not that expensive when you start stacking it against exotics that make close to the same HP.
