Wise words to the leaders of Africa from China

I get what he's saying but the Dynamics were totally different for every single African country compared to China in the '80s. I challenges assumption at the beginning of the video that Rwanda is further than China was in 1980.

China achieved a fully independent , and uncontrolled government in the 1940s. Most of their institutions and governing styles remained at the same since they were defeated by the British in the 1800s. And the only reason they took until the 1980s for them to catch up was because their leadership was incompetent, but their overall fundamentals were much better than every single African country. Their institutions were kept intact ever since the opium wars, wheras every african country is starting from zero.

The comparison isn't helpful because the underlying Dynamics for china were different. I have the same issue when individual African countries are compared to Singapore or South Korea or japan. In the entire Asian continent, the only real parallel outside of India might be maybe Malaysia or Indonesia because colonization handicapped them in the same way. Both Nations also weren't sponsored by Western countries the way Japan or Korea or Singapore were. Even China benefited from Soviet sponsorship in a way that no African country is being sponsored currently except the Sahel.
