There is good reason to believe that the "planes" that hit the World Trade Center in 2001 were holograms. The public has only started to see holograms the last few years and they're not close to being that realistic. If the military tech is truly 20 years ahead of civilian tech then they would be capable of faking an alien invasion that would look real to us just as those planes in 9/11 looked real.
