Man change the colors of your fonts already your straining my fukking eyes trying to read this bullshyt... post like a normal ass person...:what:

For real, and give us a summary. You always dump articles with no context. I'd like to know in general what it's about before going through all that, even if it's interesting.

No, we are not advocating “silencing” opinions. However, media is not free and we all pay subscriptions for our sources now, and feel that some bounds of quality and responsibility need to be observed or we’ll cancel. That’s just the marketplace at work.

This isn’t just a Columbia Journalism class. I’m NOT a neutral observer. I don’t pay for media that advocates military invasion of my state against my state government wishes when my state is breaking no federal laws, which is the ONLY time it’s legal to impose troops that way.

Sen Cotton can publish his Dixie resentment in the Arkansas Gazette. I don’t need to pay for his crap or for that matter something advocating looting or climate change denying produced by Exxon. Maybe we should all sit down to breakfast and read a nice opinion about the health benefits of genital mutilation.

Bottom line: yes, there are limits to what I will read and pay for, and that is not some radical notion. The writers of that material are still free to publish it, but they do that somewhere else. No apologies from me for putting bounds of decency on what I pay for.

You can pay for whatever media you wan't… you just can't call it journalism. You're not paying for journalism, you're paying to have your views reinforced. And, frankly, you're actually paying to have your views weakened by having sweet nothings spoken into your ear. Because what reinforces my opinions about climate change and creationism is that i have the knowledge of what the other side is saying so that i can refute it.

Matt has his own biases that get in the way of informed journalism. This article is a case in point. Lee Fang engaging in whataboutism during this current turmoil is a classic deflection tactic that usually works when deployed.

This time instead he was called to account for it. Everyone is being called to account. So why exactly is Matt mad?

Alt left? :leon:Tell me more beloved, what is the movement and what are their goals?
I’m not sure that they could even tell you what they stand for other than be political shock-jock contrarians who thrive on making clickbait articles. This article is trash. The mainstream media is showing to be an ally of social justice/BLM and antagonistic towards Trumpism. In my view the American press has been improving.

Normally like Taibbi, and can I can see some of his point but Tom Cotton did advocate for military troops. He didn’t have to outright say it for that to be the takeaway.

But police violence, and Trump’s daily assaults on the presidential competence standard, are only part of the disaster. On the other side of the political aisle, among self-described liberals, we’re watching an intellectual revolution. It feels liberating to say after years of tiptoeing around the fact, but the American left has lost its mind. It’s become a cowardly mob of upper-class social media addicts, Twitter Robespierres who move from discipline to discipline torching reputations and jobs with breathtaking casualness.

The leaders of this new movement are replacing traditional liberal beliefs about tolerance, free inquiry, and even racial harmony with ideas so toxic and unattractive that they eschew debate, moving straight to shaming, threats, and intimidation. They are counting on the guilt-ridden, self-flagellating nature of traditional American progressives, who will not stand up for themselves, and will walk to the Razor voluntarily.

They’ve conned organization after organization into empowering panels to search out thoughtcrime, and it’s established now that anything can be an offense, from a UCLA professor placed under investigation for reading Martin Luther King’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” out loud to a data scientist fired* from a research firm for — get this — retweeting an academic study suggesting nonviolent protests may be more politically effective than violent ones!

This reads like something you would find on some right-wing blog about the "intolerant left."

We should be having public debates on things imo. Furthermore, Russia was a bust and it's time to admit it.
Not to mention, he's just as hysterical as he's claiming other are. "THEY ARE DESTROYING FREE SPEECH". What was he saying during metoo? Probably something similar. "Witch hunt of men".

Some people just don't want to see progress, or understand it's messy, and conflicting, but they want the veneer of being a progressive. This is the same dude who claimed the Special Counsel investigation was all a hoax, to a degree. And yes, we know the president isn't a Russian asset, but that doesn't mean the investigation didn't have merit, or crimes weren't committed, worthy of examination and prosecution.
That was not the claim. The issue was that he was and Putin deliberately rigged the elections for him to win. That's what we were told for 3 years.

It's long past time for Americans to look in the mirror, that's the overall point of anyone who says this.
