So I work as a chemical engineer at this chemical factory. We have a warehouse department and it’s mostly physical labour with poor pay and high staff turnover. Majority of the staff there are young black men, mostly from 21-28. One thing I noticed talking to most of them( we all have lunch in the same canteen, warehouse and non warehouse) is that most of these young nikkas have kids. One started on Monday, only 21 and he’s got 2 kids, one is 6months
This job they do is very hard and the pay is rubbish. i was talking to the 21yr old yesterday and I said to him at your age you should be focusing on yourself, enjoying life, saving money and having kids when you’re actually ready. He wouldn’t have it, telling me the kids are a blessing
funny thing most of my engineering colleagues at the company, majority white and around my age, early 30s none of us have kids. We talk about video games, travelling, movies, women etc. And we wonder why the white- black wealth gap keeps growing. None of these nikkas are going to build any wealth, and their kids will grow up in poverty, go to poor schools and in 20yrs time they would be working at the warehouse again. Why?
The pay is crap and the work is physically demanding ... these are the kinds of people that a job like that would attract, people who don't have many choices. You think a college student trying to study for exams and trying to land good internships would work a job like that?

Child free, wife free for now. I'm just stacking. A lot of nice looking women and men if that's your thing aren't worth trouble What's your family's economic background? What's your character? What's the plan for life 1,2,5,10 yrs out. Glad we were taught and raised right.

White upper middle class folks are having less kids and having them later. Me and my boys from law school noted how most of our white classmates married during or shortly after law school but 6 years afterwards most of them still don't have any kids. When and if they decide to have kids their children will benefit from having parents who generally:
Young Black dudes (especially poor Black men) should be encouraged to have kids later (around age 35) to help neutralize the negative impact of poverty filtering down to their children.
- Have paid off all or most of their student loan debt
- Have social and career capital
- And have their finances in order

The normal black American 2 parent family is looked at as boring. Meanwhile those boring kids are cashing out. A cousin just became a homeowner at 24 outright.

It's a sad state of affairs.
