There was this idea in the Anime thread so I created the thread which seemed to really interesting. Thread could focus about different between animation schools, techniques, about the prevalence of scenario VS the drawing, about the industries (whether western or eastern) and maybe help a few brehs interested in animation to get some inspiration.
Lately, I have been really mindblown by Masaaki Yuasa and his work.
I started watching Ping Pong the animation and the design, objectively speaking, is terrible. Look at this :
But if you can pass the simple ass design, the anime is incredibly rich : poetic atmospheres with mixed designs, dynamic action sequences, realistic attitudes and moods, great audio and video editing and cutting, I'm simply immersed in it and it flows so well, the time passes without me seeing it... I took a look at his past work (Kaiba, Kemonozume, the Tatami Galaxy) and it's the same. Weird design, "poor" animation (as it is on purpose) but the whole universe of his, the whole piece is an absolutely complete experience.
I strongly recommend it (Ping Pong but also the other works even if I didn't really start watching them) to you brehs who are interested in animation, not necessary in animes but more in the artistic side of animated flicks
