A dude went to federal prison specifically for rigging games.
League found out it wasn't just him, but a lot of their other refs that were also doing it. Said they "closed the loophole."
Stern to allow limited gambling among refs
All 56 refs at the time had been betting on gsmes.
It's not outright proof that they were rigging (Although Donaghy was), but obviously all those refs were looking out for each other and giving each other inside information and calls to help each other win. Basically a huge gambling pool where they themselves control the outcome of all games.
That is actually worse than the Donagy scandal, but the NBA casually slid that under the rug.

You can't rig the ball going in, but you can rig the game by controlling lineups and player availability by foul assessment and the obvious point and score manipulation by giving teams/players FTs.

Almost every Spurs finals series have a horrible TV ratings. I don't think rigging games for them will do league good. Suns was more exciting to watch due to their fast-paced tempo and Steve Nash was the back-to-back MVP, a Canadian player along with his teammate, Borris Diaw, Raja Bell and Leandro Barbosa so the international thing is bullshyt. 2007 is probably the worse rated series in the NBA history.
Don't tell me 2011 finals was rigged too. Lebron Heat was a heavy favorite against the Mavs. Vegas betting odds are stacked for him. Plus, him winning against Mavs would increase television ratings, because people see him as the next Jordan/Kobe. He will be (already is) the league's cash cow.
