Unfortunately, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were necessary evils. nobody really knew how destructive nuclear weapons are. I suspect one of these events would've led to nuclear war:
The two individuals often credited with preventing nuclear war during the Cold War are Vasili Arkhipov, who prevented a Soviet nuclear strike during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and Stanislav Petrov, who averted a potential nuclear war in 1983 due to a false alarm.

Hell yes. There was an estimated 1 million deaths from a land invasion on just the US side. The Japanese were ready to go kamikaze especially since they didn't want done to them what they did to other asian countries (raping and murdering everything in sight)

The A bombs saved a lot of lives in a weird way
