So basically Babylon invaded and turned it into Sodom and Gomorrah....

Probably more to do with big mama and all of them dying off, and now you have a bunch of nikkas that don't know how to work together along with transplants from all over.

I always thought that ATL had too much fakkitry and was hella over rated. I will say the Freaknik days was cool.

In my personal opinion, the emergence of trap music brought a "dark cloud" so to speak over the city.

I didn't grow up in ATL but I lived 3hrs away and visited often.

But the common theme of my memories about Atlanta was how FUN the music was.

Yes, Atlanta has always been gritty just like any other big city, but the music was always fun and danceable. Even the ring tone era was about having fun and dancing.

Trap music brought about this dark cloud. Everything is about trapping, sipping lean, scamming, gang affiliation, etc.

Nobody makes "fun" music that the youth and grown folk alike can dance to.

But yea, Atlanta just doesn't feel the same to me any longer either.

If this is what the aura of atlanta was about,it just means nikkas probably got old:francis:

I remember the appeal being that atlanta is where you go to network with other successful black people. And you to will become a success story.

I moved to Atlanta back when I decided to get on the straight and narrow and assimilate. But in the midst of that I had a spiritual awakening. And now I see Im in one of the oasis's of Babylon.

ATL, but rasied in DMV
They don't even have happy hours in Atlanta. That's one of the first things you'll miss, if you're from a city that had them, especially if you have a 9-5 office type job, and you were a part of the 30 and up crowd. In the DMV, this was the Friday evening thing for people in that category. We'd load up on all that free food (fried chicken, potato salad, pasta, meatballs, vegetables, etc..), then get down on those discount drinks. If I'd known happy hours were illegal in the state of Georgia, I would have never moved here back in 2006.

It's hard to believe happy hours are illegal here, with Atlanta being known as a partying city. Although a lot of people came to the ATL on a trip, or job travel, and had fun partying on the weekend, like I did, I don't think most of them knew they were illegal, and probably still don't. I wish one of my family members or friends would have told me they didn't have these happy hours for the older crowd, if they knew, before pumping this place up, knowing I was well passed my late night clubbing days, when I'd show up around 11pm. But they do have discount drinks and crabs leg specials down here, although it's been awhile since I heard anything like this. Like yall said, this place turned into a hip hop, rap, trap, or which ever of those cities you want to call it.

To look on the bright side, not having those happy hours may have saved me from liver damage. And it's probably a part of the reason I don't look my age, although half of it is genetics.
