It’s less to do with connecting/making sense with some invisible force and more to do with connecting/making sense with your environment around you

It is, but I like the simple stuff explained sometimes, it can lead to new insights or something that you might not have thought of but was right under your nose the whole time.

Good stuff - I can see how one's small identity can lead to conflict and strife. So, does that mean that identifying as black (or any ethnicity) lead to evil and suffering? I can see how it works in the context of white supremacy, but what about being pro-black? By his reasoning, does that not add insult to injury? Or does being pro-black provide a balance to the white supremacy. Honest question.

Imo, The necessity of being pro-black stems from existing in a fukked up, toxic environment to begin with. So yes, I think it qualifies as a small identity, one that will cause real conflict, but also maybe one that is necessary for survival in a given environment.
In the land of starvation, it's understandable to have the small identity of "I must eat". In the land of starvation, this will surely cause conflict. If there was no starvation, there wouldn't even be a necessity for that small identity to exist.
But that's just me riffin off the top of my head.

I can't say that the guru would agree, but when looking at the pro-black movement, I have been confronted with this conundrum, and I didn't have a good response besides "they get what they deserve", but you make a good point.
