Hilariously enough, nowhere in my post did I state that Harden is a better passer because he averages more assists. Nowhere in my post did I even state that Harden averages more assists either. You made that conclusion on your own, which suggests to me that you're the one looking at box scores.
Read again, and you'll see I'm talking purely about actually watching the games. Find me clips of Stephen Curry breaking down defenses and hitting the open man the way James Harden did in Game 2, particularly that wrap around pass to Dwight. He's a 2 with better 1 skills and instincts than Curry, who's an actual 1. You're probably one of those fools who thinks that Curry's a better passer because he's constantly throwing those pointless behind the backs that could've just as easily been regular passes. Child please.
Also, to answer your boxscore watching comment, no stats don't tell the full story you're certainly right. But believe it or not, in a discussion about versatility, the player who fills up all areas of the stat sheet more is probably...drumroll...the more versatile player. Now you're gonna tell me LeBron James isn't versatile. Russell Westbrook too right?
Once again, Harden is probably the best passing 2 the NBA has EVER seen. Curry isn't even the best passing PG in the league right now. Harden can guard 1s-3s, and despite his rep of being a "poor defender" it's only because of laziness. When Harden is locked in he's an excellent on-ball defender and that showed in all the advanced stats. Curry is hopeless defending against anyone that isn't a 1. Harden is still a scoring threat even when his shot isn't falling because of his ability to get to the line, Curry is not. Harden is an incredible rebounder for his height, and is posting 2009 LeBron caliber numbers in this series at 6'5", Curry is just okay. Harden is bigger, stronger, and far more athletic than Curry and can explode to the rim. Harden is literally better at every single aspect of the game except the ability to shoot the 3 ball, but ask LeBron James and Magic how important the 3 ball is when you can do damn near everything else, and it's not like Harden is a poor 3 pt shooter either.
