Was Janet bigger than Mariah and Whitney?
it was like the seasons, they never really competed against each other. like how these superhero movies are released in theatres. They took turns dominating. Janet released RN in 1989 and didn't release again until 1993 with janet. Whitney released I'm Your Baby Tonight in 1990 and The Bodyguard in 1992. Mariah won rookie of the year with her first in 1990 and released Emotions in 1991 but she was more in Whitney's lane, not Janet. Mariah dominated the mid to late 90s while Whitney was off with Bobby blowing all the Bodyguard money on cocaine and Janet was fighting depression until The Velvet Rope in 1997 which was totally different (less poppy) than her previous efforts...
