Everytime a team runs a read option play i would tell the defender to ignore the running back and hit the qb with everything you got no matter what. You will give a few first downs in the beginning but eventually the QB is going get hurt or injured.
The best way to defeat the read option is the fukk the qb up.

Especially to think about this during the middle of the summer...with no football going on...and no examples of this ever working...shyt...you're the man now dog. Good luck winning an NFL football game doing that shyt. Roger Stalin has made the QB untouchable 90% of the time. Perfectly clean hits are even getting penalized if they're too "hard"
In the read option the qb isn't passing, they're a running back so they're giving up their body.
They will eventually get tired of taking hits or they will get hurt. Now a Qb scrabbling on a broken play is something else. Nothing you can really do about that but contain with gap responsibility and not let them get to the edge. You still have to attack and hit either way.
